A simple, standard, non-negotiated document shouldn't be a fuss to create! With Malbek Klix you can easily configure, store, and enforce agreements in one location, and your signers can agree with one quick click. Automating and standardizing your high-volume agreements has never been easier. This article covers how to create a new Template and share it with signers, including how to:
Create the Template
From the Home page/Contracts tab, either select the + Create button at the top right or + Create New from the Grid View.
Alternatively, you can toggle from Grid to List View and click the + Create button from that screen.
About
On the About tab, enter an Agreement Name.
Select checkboxes for one or both options:
- Support Signed Agreements
- Support "View Only" Agreements
When you are finished, click Next.
Document
On the Document tab, you will be prompted to upload a document by dragging and dropping it into the upload window or by browsing to select the document from your device. After uploading, a preview of your document will display.
Click the 3 dots next to a document name to Replace, Rename, or Delete.
The Version button will also launch the Replace option.
Upload additional documents as desired. Once multiple documents have been added, click and drag a document to reorder it in the list.
When you are finished, click Next.
Design
On the Design tab, there is a mockup of your clickwrap agreement and a customization menu on the right. The agreement contains three sections: Title, Form, and Agreement. Click into any of these to find the customization options related to that part of the agreement.
Title
The top section of the agreement is the Title or Header. Click into this to be able to edit the Title or optionally add a description for any additional custom text you might want to communicate to signers.
Form
The Form makes up the middle section. By default, the agreement will ask signers for a name, email, and signature. Click into this middle section to:
- Show or hide Fields using the checkboxes. Note: email is always required.
- Reorder the Fields using the arrows or by clicking and dragging.
- Click the edit icon next to any Field to make minor changes.
- Click Add Field at the bottom to create a custom Field.
For example, some changes you might make to a Field include setting it as required, allowing for longer text entry (a multiline special format), or changing the display label to better fit with your brand.
Under the Advanced Settings, there are a few other options here which are primarily useful if you choose to write custom script into your agreement embed code to pre-populate certain known values for signers. Marking the Field as Read Only will prevent signers from changing these values. Read-Only Fields may optionally be marked as Hidden if the signer does not need to view this data.
Agreement
Finally - and most importantly! - you get to choose how your agreement is displayed to the signer and what they need to do to agree to these terms.
To ensure that your agreements are legally enforceable, some best practices are already built in. You essentially have three options:
Layout Option |
Description | How it Looks |
---|---|---|
Links + Checkbox |
Your terms are available via hyperlinks. Because the signer clicks a checkbox to acknowledge agreement, you may customize the button to say whatever you want! From a legal perspective, this is the best option. |
|
Links + Button | Your terms are available via hyperlinks. Because clicking the button is the only method for the signer to acknowledge agreement, this button must say "I Agree." | |
Scroll + Button | Your terms are embedded and displayed directly. Because clicking the button is the only method for the signer to acknowledge agreement, this button must say "I Agree." The button is greyed out for the signer until they have scrolled to the end of your document(s). |
To set this up, you will first make a decision on How to display documents.
Links
If you choose Links, and if you have more than one document, you will also have the option to change the order that the documents are linked. For example, "Consent Form and Terms of Use" or "Terms of Use and Consent Form" depending on which document is ordered first.
Next, choose How to capture agreement? by having signers click a Checkbox first or solely by clicking the Button. In both cases, you can optionally add a Button URL if you wish to navigate signers to some other webpage when they click the button. With the Checkbox option only, you can also edit the Button Label.
Scroll
If you choose the Scroll option, you can edit the Button URL if you wish to navigate signers to some other webpage when they click the button.
At any point while making your decisions, you can use the toggle in the top left to switch over to Preview mode.
From here, you can use the icons at the top to toggle between different types of devices and orientations to see how your agreement will display on each.
Click Back to Edit to make adjustments or click Next when you are ready to go to the next step.
Settings & Publish
On the Settings & Publish tab, you can choose whether signers should receive an email confirmation after signing. Check the box for Notify after acceptance to enable this automated email, and click the edit icon next to the email preview to make changes to the email text.
When editing, you can change the subject line or body text. To insert Field values, use the menu pane on the right, and click the insert icon next to the Field you wish to insert. Click Save when you have finished making changes.
When ready, click Publish. You will be prompted to leave a comment before officially publishing this first version of the Template. Each time you make an edit and publish a new version, these version comments will help you to quickly keep track of the changes you made over time.
